About the Artist
I make my work from my home studio in rural Montville, Maine with my trusty dog and best friend, Jake, by my side. My studio is a converted goat barn overlooking our frog pond, chicken coop and large veggie garden. Livin' the dream.
I first became interested in Pottery in a high school art class on Cape Cod almost 30 years ago. By making the right connections I quickly landed myself apprenticeships at Heart Pottery in Brewster and Kemp Pottery in Orleans among a few others along the way. It was at this time that I began fantasizing about an actual career as a potter. Lacking the confidence to fully pursue it at that time I continued on to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Umass Dartmouth (where I was also able to take as many Ceramics classes as my schedule would allow). After college I worked as a Ceramics Studio Manager at The Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill before relocating to Maine with my young family. The move to our dream home in Maine, deep in the woods with 20 acres of our very own, was just the right setting to finally dive head first into work as a full time potter.
I started out doing the local craft show circuit as well as managing the Belfast Art Market for several years and setting up shop there alongside the Farmer's Market every Friday of the summer. The great quarantine of 2020 upended all of our plans for shows and sales the following year and it was time to adjust course. I began selling the majority of my work through local shops and galleries and never looked back. I prefer to spend my time in the studio working in clay as my passion and appreciate the time I was able to take back by making the switch from in person craft shows for the most part. My studio gallery is also open by appointment year round and for several sales events throughout the year. Get in touch if you'd like to stop by! It's the best way to see some of my one of a kind work or stock up on the classics. I am always up to something new and would love to share my love of clay with you!
